PP10 new Global Secretariat: CODESOSUR-SINERGIAS & Corporación PARTICIPA
As the elected new Global Secretariat, between CODESOSUR-SINERGIAS and Corporación PARTICIPA, we will aim to achieve the following objectives: (i) create an executive secretariat with regional counterparts; (ii) develop and implement a three-year strategy to consolidate pp10 at the global, regional and local levels; and (iii) develop an outreach and advocacy strategy for pp10.
The CODESOSUR–SINERGIAS and Corporación PARTICIPA coalition represents a first step to have a Global Secretariat that has a more integrated focus with respect to the different levels of where PP10 can be implemented. The idea is that the Global Secretariat has as “represented” the diverse regions of the world and the different levels of work on which Principle 10 can take place. The challenge is to incorporate these “outlooks” into the perspective, strategies and activities of the Global Secretariat.
In that sense, CODESOSUR-SINERGIAS and Corporación PARTICIPA, will develop a PP10 Global Secretariat that will be organized through a network of PP10 members that will take on roles and specific commitments in the framework of the Global Secretariat, as regional coordinators. The goal is to create a Global Secretariat that is made up of representatives of NGOs and governments that come from the different regions in the world. Understanding that each region encompasses significantly diverse realities.
On the other hand, Corporación PARTICIPA has a great deal of experience with working in Participation and Access Rights with communities in urban environments in cities such as Santiago and Valparaiso, as well as in other countries in the region and the world. And, CODESOSUR-SINERGIAS works directly on Sustainable Development, applying its institutional expertise to rural communties and cities with high environmental impacts and also in areas facing extreme poverty that are mostly located near or inside highg biodiversity. These are the reasons for this coalition that can be summarized as the capacity to strengthen and compliment the strategic partnerships that each of these institutions has with one another, as well as with possible donors, and create a Global Secretariat that integrates the strategies for work at the local (rural and urban), national, regional and global levels.
Finally, the Global Secretariat, as it is located in Chile, has a solid political, geographical and technological basis that would allow for the stable and continuous development of each one of its tasks, in fluid and permanent communication with all of the PP10 members.
